How to Organize a Laundry Room

Need tips on how to organize a laundry room? Let us help.

The laundry room is one space in the house that can easily become cluttered and disorganized.

And, although not many guests who come by for a short visit will usually see your laundry room (depending on it's location in the house), having a well organized laundry area will make the dreaded job of doing laundry much easier to handle.

First, take a look at your laundry room, and see what will best in that space. Storage cabinets or shelves are a must in any laundry area. This will provide storage for your detergents and other laundry supplies. And with cabinets which are wall mounted, can keep the products which are used out of reach from small children.

I prefer the cabinets over the shelves because you can keep all those supplies out of sight for a cleaner looking space. A type of storage cabinet that is especially nice, is a hide-away ironing board.

This is a wall mounted cabinet that stores an ironing board right inside. No more looking for a place to store your ironing board, or fooling with opening and closing your old one!

Keep your clothes separated by purchasing laundry sorters. They contain separate bins or totes, which can easily be lifted from the unit.

And some laundry sorters are even included in a laundry center, which has hanging racks. A table or counter top can be added to your laundry room so that folding can be done easily and right away. Most of these products can be found at home decorating stores such as Lowe's or Bed Bath and Beyond.
