Looking for easy instructions on how to make your own cheap wall art? Well you've come to the right place!
It is often the art on the wall that can make a room special, but pictures and artworks can also be very expensive.
Here is an easy solutionmake your own!
These simple instructions will show you just how easy and inexpensive making your own cheap wall art can be.
Measure your wall. Look at the space you have and decide how big to make your panel. Work on using about third of the space available on the wall. Too much smaller and the piece will look lost, any bigger and it will take over the room.
Choose some fabric. Large patterns and designs work best for this type of wall art. Look for something that will make a statement in the room and be the feature, or something that will blend in and add to the overall ambience of the room without standing out.
Buy the frame. Art stores sell the timber frames that are used to stretch canvases, and they not very expensive. They have interlocking corners and are easy to put together. They will come in a wide range of pre-cut lengths, so you might have to adjust your measurements a little to accommodate the sizes the frames come in. Decide whether you want square or rectangle.
Put the frame together. Push the corners together, using a hammer to drive them in firmly if necessary.
Cut your fabric. Place the fabric face down on the floor or a table, and place the frame on top. Cut around the frame, leaving a good 6" to 8" edge outside it. This allows the fabric to wrap around the frame. Iron your fabric to remove all creases. Make sure the part of the design you want is in the centre of the frame.
Wrap it up. Put the frame on the wrong side of the fabric again and wrap the fabric over to the back of the frame and secure with staples. Work on the two opposite sides to get a good even tension and then repeat on the other sides. As long as it looks good from the front, the back doesn't really matter. Attach 1 or 2 picture hangers on the back and hang it up.
