Cheap Plant Stand Ideas
Using a Chair as a Plant Holder

Looking for a quick and cheap plant stand idea on decorating with plants? Well I've got a fairly cheap one for you...

Did you know you could use a chair as a (corner) plant stand? That's right. All you need is a relatively nice chair.

It's best to go for a dining table or kitchen table chair. Preferably wooden with a nice paint stain. If it doesn't have a great paint stain, you can always restain it yourself.

Once you've got the look and feel you want, place the chair in a corner or along a wall and place an easy-to-care for plant on top. Consider a Peace Lily as one of your top choices.

It's even easy to care for if you don't have a green thumb. What makes it so useful is the plant will droop when it's thirsty and pop back up within several hours once it's watered properly.

So, if you forget to water it it will remind you!

But if you're one who doesn't like to forget... it might help to know that mine generally requires 2 cups of water every three days and a nice spritz on the leaves during watering times. For lighting you could place it beside a halogen lamp.

But you may also want to place a nice plant light on it in the distance. It could get away with placing it a good 5-6 feet away as long as some of the light hits beams on the plant from a distance.

Generally you can get both the plant light and Peace Lily at Wal-mart.

As for where to find beautiful chairs to serve as plant stands, consider your local thrift stores, craigslist, freecycle and ebay.
