A room without anything on the walls looks cold and empty; but artworks are often quite expensive and the budget may not extend to these extras.
There are ways to overcome this problem without costing you a fortune.
Here are some ideas and tips for finding cheap pictures for your home...
Print your own
You will need access to a color printer of medium to good quality and photo paper or plain paper (whichever you prefer).
Find a picture you like. There are numerous places to look for images on the internet, but try Google Images or Yahoo Images to start with. You can look for a particular style of picture (oil, watercolor, line drawing etc) or image content (flowers, landmarks, etc.) When you find an image you like, click on the image and select 'print'.
If you have a digital camera, you are sure to have photos stored on your computer. Select one that appeals to you and print it out. You might even decide to go on a photo shoot to take shots specifically for displaying on your walls.
Buy a cheap print
Discount stores will often sell posters and prints that don't cost much.
Cut pictures out of glossy magazines. National Geographic are renowned for the quality photography they feature.
Discount stores also sell cheap framed prints that you might find appealing.
You have a picture, now what?
You now need to work out a way to display your picture. Here are some ideas...
The easiest way is to put it in a frame and hang it; you can usually find cheap frames at discount, charity and second hand stores.
Buy some mat board available from art supply or framing stores and simply glue your picture to it. The picture may cover the whole board or you might leave an edge of the board showing as an effective border.
Be creative with your art wall. Group several smaller pictures close together to give the look of one large piece; they can be similar or different sizes.
